Day 2, 29/4 Sun

Harajuku 原宿

The day started with a failed attempt to find the Harajuku Weekend Market. Must have had a really bad sense of directions to have missed out on such a large-scale marketplace.

And so we settled for Takeshita-dori, a prime shopping street of Harajuku which brims of young tokyolites and cos-players (people dressed as characters from Japanese animes). The stretch consisted of individual shops selling idol goods, clothing and accessories. Our attention, however, was channeled at a store called Northerly, that carries wide and pretty assortment of lingerie. Laces, satin, crystals, plus the affordibility... which girl could resist! We were very happy girls by the time we left, bags full of shopping.

Akihabara 秋葉原

That evening we went to Akihabara the land of otakus and the electric town of Tokyo, in search of a battery charger for my cam but in vain. My digicam is forced to retire prematurely. Technology has apparently advanced so quickly in Japan that the charger had been phased out. (0_0) A little walking around the area, other than electric mega stores, we passed by several multi-storey adult stores too. In the name of gifting, we checked one out. The store carried almost everything and was quite an eye-opener (I'm quite sua ku lah), but if you're someone who's easily grossed-out, do stay clear.

Another turn about the corner brought us to a row of Tonkatsu shops. The sight and scent of the food simply triggered our hungry nerves, especially when lunch was a mere ice-creme crepe thanks to a busy shopping itinerary. Randomly, we ended up at Wako Tonkatsu for its pork cutlets. The portions were huge, delicious and satisfying. I sense impending hunger pangs just thinking about it now.
